Our volunteer from Sweden (Kerstin Grundberg) shows us the best pictures of her 9 month’s staying in Romania. Bucharest - historical center. I had the opportunity to visit Bucharest a few times, most to show my friends and family around. My favourite part is the historical center. It is the only part of Bucharest where cars are not allowed and you feel safe as a pedestrian. I like the architecture there a lot. EVS Caravan Novaci. My favourite project in this EVS was the EVS Caravan. Going with the whole volunteer group, meeting people in the street, having presentations in the school, it was such a good introduction to the rural culture of Romania. This picture is taken in the high school in Novaci. First days in Romania – view from the office. I still can feel the taste of the air when I first came to Romania and Târgu Jiu. Such a magical time. Warm weather, red sun and the feeling of excitement. View from my room. The best thing about Carbunesti is my room. There I crawl up in the sofa with a book when the sun shines through the windows. When everything feels strange and hard I come to my room for recreation. The persons on the balcony are Linus and Jimmy. My sister in Sibiu. The girl on the picture is my sister Lena. She has come and visited me twice here which must mean that she really likes me. I think she is the best person in the world so it adds up. On this picture you can also see the view of Sibu which we visited with our parents. Magnolia. Where I live in Sweden trees like Magnolia can not grow. I really like the variety of flowers and trees here in Gorj. The nature and the flora is just amazing! Palace of the People. When I visited Ceausescu's palace it was with double feelings. I think the halls are just beautiful but it also feels like a show-off, size large. It has no real soul or history, just a huge copy cat. Spring in Carbunesti. The girl on the picture is me and Linus is the photographer. I choose it because it represent spring for me, bright colors and white flowers in the trees. The train locomotive on fire. Every time I took the train in Romania something unexpected happened. This time the train locomotive cached fire. I used the time waiting to take some pictures. Beautiful lightening! View from the sugar top - Rânca. This is the best picture from Romania and I choose this to salute the photographer Geraldine Ader who takes amazing pictures. It brings back good memories too, when we all climbed the mountain top the first week in October 2007 and saw this view. |
